Student Clubs for Holistic Development
Manthan aims for holistic development and believes that extra-curricular activities play an important role in children’s growth. To support this, such activities are incorporated into the curriculum for pre-primary and primary students. Middle and high school students get the option to select the club of their preference. Throughout the academic year, students hone their skills in their chosen clubs and have opportunities to showcase their talents during annual days, sports days, and other significant events.
11th and 12th graders have the opportunity to suggest club ideas and discuss their feasibility with teachers. Depending on interest and infrastructure arrangements, students form and run these clubs, which are open to members from 6th to 12th grade. These student-run clubs provide opportunities for members to pursue and develop the skills of their choice.
Science Club
Movie Club
The Manthan Movie Club was co-founded by Anshul Arora, Marcela Fernandez, and Arushi Gupta to create a space for individuals to openly discuss and express their thoughts about movies. The club fosters constructive conversations and friendly debates within the world of cinema.
To enhance members’ understanding of filmmaking, the club incorporates games and activities like the Plot Game, where movies are guessed based on their plot lines. Other popular activities include Dumb Charades, Pictionary, movie quizzes, and monthly rounds of “Movie Fights,” where members engage in debates on movie topics.
Debate Club
Formed in 2017, the Debate Club was one of the first student-run organisations in Manthan. Purvi Reddy founded it with the goal of providing a safe platform for her classmates to voice their opinions and foster a love for debating. The Junior Debate Club is comprised of 8th graders, while the Debate Club consists of students from Grades 9 to 12. Haasini Kellampalli and Ishan Khire currently lead it.
Through debates, interactive discussions, and research projects, members are exposed to a wide range of topics and encouraged to learn in a multi-dimensional, open-minded manner. They hone their public speaking and critical thinking skills to become confident orators.
Sparsh Club
The Sparsh Club manages the school’s magazine. Junior Sparsh Club is comprised of grade 8 students, while students from grades 9 to 12 are part of the Sparsh Club. The club publishes two newsletters annually, with the editorial team leading the ideation and content finalisation. They aim to engage the student body through their advice column, “Paraamarsh.” Submissions of creative stories, plays, poems, and artwork from students are edited by club members and reviewed by teachers before publication.
International Culture Club
The ICC intends to truly make students global citizens by promoting a better understanding of different cultures and perspectives from around the world.
COAP Club
The COAP (Community Outreach and Aid Programme) Club works on spreading awareness about important topics such as mental health, body positivity, and menstrual hygiene through creative newsletters. Other than that, the club also works on organising donation drives and guest talks. The club founders were Rhia Sreevatsa, Manogna Chirasani, Tanvi Reddy and Gayathri Divakaruni.
