Internet Safety: A Shared Responsibility

Dear Manthan School Community, Greetings!

In today’s information age, the internet is an incredible tool that opens up a world of knowledge and opportunities for growth. With this access comes a shared responsibility. As educators, parents, and students, we have a unique chance to learn from one another. Students, as savvy digital natives, can lead the way in exploring technology’s full potential, while parents and teachers provide guidance to ensure it is used responsibly.

The online world offers abundant opportunities that we want our students to utilise, but it also presents challenges that children may not fully understand. From exposure to inappropriate content to interactions with strangers and the potential for addiction to games, the risks are real. Children should also be aware of the dangers of phishing, impersonation, in-app purchases, and cyberbullying etc. Understanding these risks is vital for empowering them to navigate the digital world responsibly.

At home, families can establish clear rules about when and where internet use is appropriate by designating specific times and shared spaces for this purpose. Stay informed about the latest digital trends and create a supportive environment where your child feels comfortable sharing their online experiences. Being actively involved in their internet usage is crucial—not only to protect them from dangers but also to initiate open communication about making safe and informed choices online.

As a school, we encourage open dialogue in the classroom about internet safety and responsible use. We have configured a new firewall that alerts us if a child attempts to explore restricted content or websites. As educators, it is our responsibility to monitor and guide our students in their online activities. However, we must work together as a community to reinforce the values of responsible internet use.

Dear Students, the internet is an amazing place, full of knowledge and opportunities. We want you to make the best use of this technology, but remember, it comes with responsibility. Listen to your parents and teachers—they are here to guide you and help you navigate the online world safely. Engaging in open conversations about your online experiences can make a significant difference. Always think before you click, and if something does not feel right, don’t hesitate to talk to a trusted adult. Your safety and well-being come first!

Together, let us create a safe online environment where everyone behaves responsibly, and everyone enjoy the benefits of this incredible technology—the Internet.

Thank you, parents, for participating in the NPS Survey. We have received your feedback, and we are committed to implementing your suggestions to make Manthan the school of choice for families in Hyderabad.
